A family of eight, who recently lost their house in the Kampong Setia 'B' of Kampong Ayer, has received a financial donation of $5,000 from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB).

The donation was presented yesterday to Dayang Siah binti Bujang by Awang Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, the Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Recalling the incident, Awang Sahri Salleh, the husband of Siah said, "At noon, around 12.30pm, my son saw that the house had partially collapsed when he returned from the sea. The kitchen and toilet were already gone when one of the columns gave way. I felt it was unsafe to stay there, so we moved in with our relatives who also happen to be our neighbours".

Around 12 midnight, he said, "The whole house collapsed and was submerged in the river. We were lucky that we managed to get out in time."
