Brunei's own international celebrity Wu Chun gave his strong support and encouragement to the budding short film producers, actors and-other students connected with the making of the films screened during the UBD TV Short Film Festival.

He said this was an excellent platform for enterprising youths who wish to make a start in the creative industry, and it certainly bodes well for the country.

"They came up with creative ideas and the films showcased their talents in film-making. The filmmakers have certainly put in a lot of effort in their films and despite the lack of budget, the planning and directing of the films were very good. The films were thoroughly enjoyable," said Wu Chun.

"The size of Brunei's market is certainly not a barrier as far as their creative talents are concerned as good films can be marketed internationally," he added.

Wu Chun further explained that the film festival event and other future endeavours by the short film directors will be good learning experiences for them, and though there aren't many opportunities in the country in this sector, he can get them to be involved with overseas TV production teams whom he can bring to the country.

These overseas TV production teams will bring the relevant experience and education for the UBD short film makers, and Wu Chun said he is keen to have discussions with them.

In an announcement to the media, Creative Core BN and UBD TV represented by Charlotte and Ziqah respectively, said Bake Culture will be working with them to host a nationwide video competition with the hope of presenting local artistes with a platform for short filmmaking.

The competition will be open to students of all educational institutions, and more details will be released soon, the representatives stated.
