Covid-19 Watch: 47 Adolescents Under 18 Died Since Pandemic Began

A total of 47 adolescents aged under 18 have died to Covid-19, translating to a case fatality rate of 0.01%, says the Health Ministry.

 

These deaths were out of 322,694 positive cases involving adolescents from the start of the pandemic to August 30 this year, the Health Ministry figures revealed.

 

The ministry’s Covid-19 data also revealed that the 0-4 years age group and the 13-17 age group both reported a total of 18 deaths each.

 

The 5-6 years age group reported only one death while there were 10 fatalities involving those aged between seven to 12.

 

In terms of positive cases, the seven to 12 age group had been infected with Covid-19 the most, totalling 110,894 infections.

 

This is followed by the 13-17 years group (93,229 cases), the 0-4 group (84,348) and the 5-6 group (34,223).

 

Overall, the number of positive cases involving adolescents is at 18% of the country’s cumulative total.

 

The death cases involving adolescents is at 0.2% of the national Covid-19 death toll.
