A send-off ceremony was held yesterday at the Bolkiah Garrison for 30 personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) who will take part in a peacekeeping mission to Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL).
The RBAF peacekeepers will join the troops from Malaysia under the command of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT 850-4).
The Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit presented the national flag of Brunei Darussalam to the head of the RBAF contingent, Major Azhan bin Haji Ahmad.
The Deputy Minister also presented berets and logos of the United Nations to the peacekeeping personnel.
Among those present were Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the RBAF; Datuk Ghulam Jelani bin Khanizaman, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam; the service commanders, members of the Defence Executive Committee, military and civilian directors, commandants, and senior officers of the RBAF.
