A local man was sentenced to jail for 15 years and 12 strokes yesterday over charges of rape and other offences.

Intermediate Court Judge Haji Nabil Daraina bin Phin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin handed the sentence to Mohamad Fakhri bin Maslan, 31, after he pleaded guilty to raping a woman, stealing 11 cars, housebreaking to commit theft and illegal possession of an airgun.

The offences were committed between February and March 2016. DPP Sharon Yeo appeared for the Public Prosecutorin the case.
