The American burger franchise Wayback Burgers continues to spread its presence in Brunei with the opening of a second outlet yesterday at the Giant Hypermarket Rimba.

It is also looking to launch another branch in the buzzing Gadong commercial area by the year's end.

The location of the new Wayback Burgers proves ideal for the families and residents staying nearby to enjoy the famous eatery known for its quality and freshly made burgers as well as fantastic milkshakes.

The launching ceremony's guest of honour, Ambassador of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam Craig Allen, who officiated the latest outlet said in his welcoming remarks, "Burgers are an iconic American food and are enjoyed around the world.

"Burgers are also tremendously popular in Brunei, as proven by the new burger outlets that open in the Sultanate every other month. "

He further highlighted that currently "there are about a dozen US food and beverage franchises operating in Brunei. When a US franchise opens a new outlet, it creates jobs and opportunities for the people in Brunei as well as in the United States".

The US Ambassador also hopes that the franchise's local staff will continue to learn and grow together with Wayback Burgers.

There are currently 30 local staff members working at both the Kiulap and Rimba outlets. "The US Embassy supports Wayback Burgers and all companies that promote economic and cultural ties between the United States and Brunei," he added.

"Our trade is growing rapidly, and once the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement is ratified, there will be more opportunities for US and Bruneian companies to export products and services to each other's markets."

Also present to officiate the second outlet yesterday were John Eucalitto, the President of Wayback Burgers USA and John Burgos, the Founder and Managing Director of JonRidge (B) Sdn Bhd, who is credited with bringing the burger franchise to Brunei, as well as Pengiran Hajah Refiah binti Pengiran Haji Sabtu, the Manager of Giant Hypermarket Rimba.

In conjunction with the opening of the new Wayback Burgers, the American franchise chain has a special offer for customers until September 18, 2016 - buy any two of its signature burgers as well as one milkshake and get the flavour-of-themonth milkshake for free.

This second branch is opened just four months after that of the first outlet at Setia Kenangan II, while a third outlet is scheduled to be launched in Gadong by November.

Concurrently, Wayback Burgers will also be expanding to neighbouring countries through JonRidge International Sdn Bhd, the company that holds the Asia Franchise rights with Indonesia.
