This year Attapeu has been chosen as the representative province of Laos to promote culture, trade and investment at the 13th CAEXPO in Guangxi, China.
The opening ceremony of 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) was held on Sept 11 and will run through Sept 14. In attendance at the opening ceremony were Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli, and high-ranking officials of the 10 ASEAN member countries.
“The organizers are promoting the strategic initiative "21st Century Maritime Silk Road," stepping up efforts to boost international cooperation in industry, increasing connectivity between China and the neighboring countries, and establishing a China-ASEAN Information Harbor to deepen bilateral, multi-fielded cooperation. The objective of this initiative is to make a wider, stronger and more effective cooperation network,” Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli said.
Over 2,600 companies joined the expo including over 950 companies from the 10 ASEAN countries, and over 1,000 from international companies beyond ASEAN.
Sixty-five companies from Laos had 146 booths showcasing and selling their products at CAEXPO. The majority of the products were furniture, carved woods, handicrafts, silk products, jewellery, foods and drinks, examples of “One District, One Product,” and information on tourism in Laos.
This year, Vietnam is holding the role of Country of Honor and Sri Lanka as the special guest country.
The 13th CAEXPO also marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations.
During the CAEXPO, China will host a Forum on International Cooperation in Industrial Capacity and Equipment Manufacturing, as well as hold bilateral and multilateral meetings and talks, along with matching events for project owners and investors, as well as signing ceremonies for future projects to facilitate cooperation in between countries.
