20 Year Old Jailed for Filing a False Report

 September 15th, 2016  |  06:35 AM  |   1185 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

A local woman was jailed for a month by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after she pleaded guilty to filing a false police report.

Norliza anak Gaffny, 20, filed a false police report saying that a man had outraged her modesty to cover up from her family an affair she was having with another man.

Prosecutor Zuraidah Sidek said that the defendant worked as a waitress at a restaurant in Tuker Lines, Sella and had an affair with a cook there.

She kept it from her husband, but only until the night of August 3, 2016.

That night her husband waited for her at the parking lot of the restaurant where she was seeing the cook in his car.

Realising it was his wife in the car with another man, he grew angry and went up to the car banging its door telling his wife to come out.

As the defendant came out of the car, the cook managed to flee the scene.

The defendant then made up the story that the cook had sexually harassed her earlier, which led to her filing the fake police report.

Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman said that the defendant had made up a serious allegation towards the cook causing the police to launch an inquiry leading to two persons being needlessly investigated.

The defendant was also taken to the hospital, where the staff had wasted their resources like the police had on the fake allegation.
