Brunei Darussalam in Inter-Monsoon Season

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Inter-Monsoon season which is the transition period after the Northeast Monsoon and before entering the Southwest Monsoon. Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department in its press release informed that during the inter-monsoon season, the weather condition in the country is generally sunny during the day, while thunderstorms potentially occur over the inland areas in the afternoon and spreading towards the coastal and sea areas of the country at night. Thunderstorm events, can be heavy and gusty at times and there is risk of flash floods or flooding during the upcoming Inter-monsoon season.

 

Active weather condition is forecasted starting yesterday until 9th April 2022 due to active development of rain clouds over the country. Occasional showers and thundershowers are expected, with wind gust up to 50 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers or thundershowers. The public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain that may last for more than 1 hour and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and falling trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.
