Media Conference On Latest COVID-19 Situation

1,738 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were given to children aged 5 to 11 on 12th May 2022, bringing the total first dose vaccinations administered to 30,948 which is 72.1 per cent. The Minister of Home Affairs stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al-Afiah, Ministry of Health.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong also stated 1,352 second doses of the vaccine were administered to children in the same age group, taking the total second doses administered to 8,542 or 20.1 per cent. Meanwhile, 68 per cent of the total population have received the third dose of the vaccine.
270 new cases were recorded, in which 268 were results from ART and 4 others were results of 280 RT-PCR laboratory tests. This brings the total cases in Brunei Darussalam to 144,136. 1 case is in Category 4, while 145 cases have recovered, taking the total recovered cases to 142,318. To date, there are 1,598 active cases, whereby 16 cases are currently treated in hospitals, and 1,582 are currently undergoing home self-isolation. One COVID-19 case has passed away, in which the case is categorised as death not due to COVID-19.
