VIENTIANE

(KPL) Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh received in Vientiane on May 17 a courtesy call from the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue who was on a working visit to Laos between May 15-17 to strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Prime Minister Phankham appreciated Hue’s working visit to Laos and considered it as a key activity for the celebration of the two historic days: the 60th anniversary of Laos-Vietnam diplomatic ties (Sep 5, 1962) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (Jul 18, 1977).

The premier also spoke highly of the achievements the National Assembly of Vietnam has achieved over the past years as well as those achieved under its bilateral cooperation framework.

He stated that the successful discussion between the National Assembly of Laos and the National Assembly of Vietnam contributed significantly to materializing and deepening the agreements between the Party and government leaders of the two countries thus bringing benefits to peoples of the two countries.

He highlighted the longstanding relations and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. Prime Minister Phankham also called on the Vietnamese top legislator to continue to guide and strengthen cooperation on various areas with Laos to bring benefits to the Lao and Vietnamese people.

In reply, the Vietnamese guest informed the Prime Minister about the outcomes of the meeting between his delegation and their Lao counterparts.

The two leaders also exchanged points of view on regional and international issues of common interest.
