Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony

The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is celebrated annually on 17th May to mark the founding of the International Telecommunication Union, ITU, and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, AITI, yesterday held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Brunei International Airport Surau.
In attendance was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The ceremony began with mass Sunat Hajat and Asar prayers, followed by the reading of Surah Yaasin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran. The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is celebrated to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other ICTs can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
