JobCentre Brunei and the Department of Labour have reviewed the requirements for certain sectors so that the process of recruiting foreign workers can be expedited. In a question and answer session with the media, the Minister of Home Affairs explained that from 1st March until mid-May, 14,016 applications to recruit foreign workers have been processed. Majority of the application, namely 4,161 are for construction section, followed by wholesale and retail, food and hospitality, as well as manufacturing. All responsible government agencies will work to assist companies to make it easier for them to bring in foreign workers.

Meanwhile, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Economy stressed that among the criteria for border reopening are depending on the rate of vaccination for children and the importance of safety and health for passengers and on-duty staff at Immigration and Customs Control Posts.
