Readymix Concrete Showcase Milestone With Coffee Table Anniversary Book

JERUDONG

Readymix Concrete (B) Sdn Bhd, Brunei's leading manufacturer and supplier of quality concrete, launched a full-colour coffee table anniversary book entitled `Celebrating 30 Years' during a ceremony that was held yesterday at Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country club.

The book showcases all the milestone projects constructed with concrete supplied by Readymix throughout the past decades that have made a significant, positive impact on the nation's development.

The 168-page book features coloured photographs depicting many of the Sultanate's most notable buildings, including The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Jame' 'Mr Hassanil Bolkiah, Royal Regalia Building, the Ministry of Finance Building and Complex, International Convention Centre, Brunei Methanol Complex and the new Royal Brunei Police Force Headquarters in Gadong, to name just a few.

"As you turn the pages of the book, you will see not only the 30-year history of our company, but also the history of a nation's photographs of some of Brunei's most iconic buildings all of which were constructed with concrete supplied by Readymix,"

said Nicholas Cocks, the Chief Executive Officer of Readymix Concrete. He thanked the company's local partner and director, Pengiran Anak Haji Ja'afar ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, and also highlighted the strong governmental support that the company has received over the years.

However, he was quick to point out that with the recent drop in global oil prices, business has been "very tough", especially as the company has to compete with foreign contractors awarded to construct big development projects.

Nonetheless, the CEO still conveyed gratitude, and believes that one factor remains constant - the secure and stable business environment of the country.

As visitors to your nation, we have always felt welcome, supported and understood - with a level playing field on which to carry out our work," he added.

Readymix still leads the manufacturing and supply of quality concrete in Brunei, with a team of 100 dedicated staff, 55 per cent of whom are locals, with 50 truck mixers and a network of hatching plants
