Dalian Pro Target 34 Points To Stay At Chinese Top Flight, Says Head Coach

BEIJING

Dalian Pro head coach Xie Hui said his side aims to collect 34 points this season so as to secure their stay at the Chinese Super League.

The Dalian side, which were brought up from the second tier to fill the gap left by defunct Chongqing Liangjiang at the last moment before the start of the season, got off to a promising start under Xie, winning once and drawing three times before losing to defending champions Shandong Taishan 3-0 on Tuesday.

"We earned six points from five games, for me it exceeded our expectations," Xie said.

"Our target is to get 34 points, the sooner the better. I think with 34 points we can make sure of staying at the top flight," he added.

Xie advocated a high-up pressing game which has brought positive results to his Dalian team, prompting calls for him to replace Li Xiaopeng as the Chinese men's national team head coach.
