Shandong Taishan head coach Hao Wei suggested that the congested Chinese Super League schedule is taking a toll on players.
The Chinese top-flight teams are playing a match every four days, making them overstretched and prone to injuries, according to Hao.
Shandong midfielder Liao Lisheng came on to cover for right defender Liu Binbin who left the field after picking up a leg injury in the 65th minute of their 3-0 win over Dalian Pro on Tuesday.
Hao said he had no fit right-backs to use at that moment as both players of the position at his disposal were injured.
"The schedule is so congested. Liu Binbin was injured today, so was Wang Teng. I have no idea if they can recover in time to play the next game, " Hao said.
"Liao can play at different positions, and he did a good job," he added.
