A local man was sentenced by the Magistrate's Court yesterday to three years and six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to consuming methamphetamine (syabu).

Haji Mohammad Najib bin Haji Ibrahim consumed the Class `A' controlled drug on two separate occasions, in December 2015 and in April this year.

The court then granted an application by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Prosecutor to withdraw seven other charges against Haji Mohammad Najib, which included failing to report himself on a regular basis to the NCB while under supervision.

Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin presided over the case.
