THE HAGUE

Feyenoord maintained their maximum run in the Dutch Eredivisie by beating Roda JC Kerkrade 5-0 in Rotterdam on Sunday.

Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen opened the scoring in the 25th minute and Karim El Ahmadi added another goal 10 minutes later. In the final minutes, Feyenoord added three more through Jorgensen, Jens Toornstra and Terence Kongolo.

Feyenoord booked their 7th win in a row since the start of the 2016/2017 season.

On Saturday, reigning champions PSV booked a Eredivisie record 13th consecutive away win, breaking their own record of 12 in a row from the 1987/1988 season. PSV beat Excelsior 3-1 in Rotterdam.

After Luciano Narsingh gave the visitors the lead, Luigi Bruins equalized from the penalty spot on behalf of Excelsior, but on the stroke of half-time, Luuk de Jong headed in the second PSV goal. A few minutes from time, Davy Propper secured the victory.

Also on Saturday, AZ drew 2-2 at home against Go Ahead Eagles, SC Heerenveen beat ADO 3-0 in The Hague and Ajax booked a convincing 5-1 victory over PEC Zwolle.

Wout Brama gave Ajax an early scare in Amsterdam with the opening goal for PEC, but defender Davinson Sanchez headed in twice to hand Ajax the lead at half-time. In the second half, Kasper Dolberg (twice) and Bertrand Traore extended the score to 5-1. Midfielder Hakim Ziyech gave three assists.

Feyenoord now lead the Eredivisie with 21 points from seven matches, followed by Ajax (16), PSV (16), AZ (14) and sc Heerenveen (14).  Enditem
