A 29-year old male teacher at a local private school has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and 4 strokes of whipping for outraging the modesty of three of his female students.

The defendant pleaded guilty earlier this week to three charges of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of the girls aged between 6 and 7 years old at the time the incidents took place on the 13th of July this year. During investigations conducted by the Women and Children Abuse Unit, Criminal Investigation Division of the Royal Brunei Police Force, the defendant admitted to committing the acts of outraging the modesty of the three female victims in the classroom. The court sentenced the defendant to three years and six months imprisonment with two strokes of whipping for each charge, but ordered for the first and second charges to run concurrently and consecutively to the third charge. The judge further ordered for the two strokes of whipping on the first and second charges to be cumulative but non-cumulative to the third charge.
