The Weights and Measures Unit, SDT, Industry and Business Ecosystem Division, IBE under the Ministry of Finance and Economy conducted inspections to seventeen supermarkets and grocery stores, 4th August.

The operation was conducted to ensure any weights and measures machines that is used for business purposes are registered and verified in line with the Weights and Measures Act, 1983 Chapter 151. During the operation, 2 units of weighing machines have failed to comply with the Weights and Measures Act. The company was issued a Reminder Notice and is required to report to the Weights and Measures Unit Office within 7 working days from the date the notice was issued. According to Awang Allen On, Director of IBE, over the past seven months, SDT conducted inspection on business premises including the industrial sites.
