His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday received in audience His Excellency Admiral John C. Aquilino, Commander, U.S Indo-Pacific Command, US INDO-PACOM. Accompanying His Excellency were Her Excellency Caryn R. McClelland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brunei Darussalam; Captain Melvin Smith, Executive Assistant; and Lieutenant Commander Samuel S. Kim, Chief, Office of Defense Cooperation.

Also present were Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd. Kadir, Deputy Minister of Defence; and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF. His Excellency Admiral John C. Aquilino and delegation are in the country for a three-day visit from 7th to 9th of August 2022. The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty received in audience His Excellency Admiral John C. Aquilino. Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America have enjoyed a close and longstanding defence relationship that has been cemented since 29 November 1994 through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation. Bilateral defence relations has strengthened with cooperation in the form of visits, defence and military meetings, exercises, trainings, professional exchanges, and cross attendance of courses. Both countries also cooperate with one another at a multilateral level.
