Two local women who brought in cigarettes, chicken wings and alcoholic drinks without import permit were ordered to pay fines by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after they pleaded guilty to the Customs charges.
Marinah binti Haji Ahmad, 40, was fined $2,250, or serve two months' jail in default of payment, for being in possession of six cartons of cigarettes and three bottles of booze.
Nur Hidayah bind Abdullah, 43, was fined $1,200, or serve jail for a month, for being in possession of three cartons of cigarettes and two packets of chicken wings.
Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid heard from the Customs prosecutor that the duo came back from Limbang in their car at the Kuala Lurah Control Post at 10.28pm on August 8, 2016.
They were found to have not declared the imports when the bootleg was revealed in an inspection of their vehicle by the Customs examiner.
