A local man and a foreign man aged 24 and 26 respectively, were arrested, believed to be involved in the smuggling of contraband. The suspects were arrested during the raid at Kampung Menengah, Temburong District, early yesterday morning.

The raid was carried out by the Special Operation Unit, Company 'C' Police Reserve Force, Royal Brunei Police Force. During the monitoring, three individuals were unloading suspicious looking packages in a boat. However during the raid one of the suspects managed to escape. Upon inspection, the package was found to contain 204 bottles and 96 cans of alcoholic drink of various brands, in a smuggling attempt into the country. The suspects and contraband were taken to the Bangar Police Station and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
