A local man was ordered to pay a fine of $800, or serve three weeks' jail in default of payment, by the Magistrate's Court for illegal importation of Pacific White Shrimps.

Forty-one-year-old Pengiran Martudin bin Pengiran Samsuddin is currently serving jail for a theft related offence and was ordered by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid to settle the fine or serve the default jail sentence after his current imprisonment term is up.

Pengiran Martudin imported 329.35 kilogrammes of Pacific White Shrimp without a licence when Marine Police stopped him in his boat at Sungai Batu Marang and found the load on the morning of January 13, 2012.
