BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Members of the public can now enjoy their favourite Jollibee meals anytime with the official launch of the first Jollibee drivethru in Brunei Darussalam located at the main road of the Kilanas-Mulaut area yesterday.

The opening also marked a significant milestone as the Jollibee drive-thru in Kilanas, Brunei is also the first in the Asian region for Jollibee.

On hand to officiate the launch was Meynardo LB Montealegre, the Philippines Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, in his capacity as guest of honour. Also present at the grand launch was Liyana Yus, Jollibee Brand Endorser.

Jhing Perias, Country Head of Jollibee in his speech said, "About 29 years ago, Jollibee wanted to expand to the international market and the first international Jollibee outlet was opened in Brunei at the Utama Bowling Centre. From only four stores, we managed to increase to 14 branches in the entire country and become Brunei's number one choice for fast food."

"People who want to be on the go can just drop by and get their Jollibee meals. Currently, Jollibee has more than 1,000 branches worldwide and Brunei Darussalam remains to be a very special place for us," he said.
Meanwhile Christina Ward, Jollibee Brunei operation head, in her remark congratulated the Brunei Jollibee team for the successful grand opening.

"It was in 2008 when we were looking for a drive-thru site. Despite the challenges we faced such as growing competition, we emerged victorious as we managed to raise the number of stores in 2016 from four stores in 1996 to 14 this year," she said.

The Philippines Ambassador congratulated Jollibee for the opening of the first drivethru and for having established a foothold in Brunei.

He felt that Jollibee has brought Filipinos and Bruneians together by sharing good food and bridging the cultural gap.

Liyana Yus also drove her car in for the first drive-thru meal following the official grand opening.

"I am happy to be a part of Jollibee, I grew up with Jollibee. I am one of those kids who enjoyed their meals. When I am on the go or in a rush, it's great to know that there is a Jollibee drive-thru available so I can still enjoy my favourite Chickenjoy on the go," she said.
