A local man was charged by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court on one count under Section 146 1 D of the Excise Order 2006 for possession of cigarettes. The arrest was made during a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Royal Customs and Excise Department at a house in Kampung Perpindahan Serasa on 27th July 2022.

Md Zulwafiy bin Ahad pleaded guilty and was fined $7,600 or 7 months imprisonment in default. He was given until the 27th of December 2022 to settle the fine. All contraband was seized to be destroyed.
