BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Minister of Health also stated that the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the University of Brunei Darussalam, will conduct a survey called the 3rd National Health and Nutritional Status Survey. The survey aims to ensure the prevalence and trends of non-communicable diseases as well as their risk factors among the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam, especially risk factors related to nutrition.

Yang Berhormat said the research consists of two phases where the first phase will start in October 2022 until January 2023 and will focus on common risk factors among adults aged between 18 to 69 years. Meanwhile, the second phase which will be held from February to May 2023 will target issues related to the health of children and pregnant women. For both phases, trained researchers will visit selected homes in all four districts to interview selected family members and carry out certain inspections. Cooperation is needed for the research's success, which it is hoped will be able to help the Ministry of Health evaluate the effectiveness of health strategies and programmes provided in the country, especially in the Government's efforts to prevent premature deaths from non-communicable diseases.
