2016 Toyota Classics Slated on Oct 22

The 2016 Toyota Classics is scheduled to be held at the Arts Centre of Jerudong International School ( JIS) at 8.30pm on October 22.
This is the 22nd time Toyota Motor Asia-Pacific and NBT are hosting this series of charity concerts in Brunei Darussalam, a press release from NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd stated.
The concert will feature the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra from Poland which has performed widely in Europe since 2008 and won the Polish Grammy for Best Music Album in 2015.
The concert will also feature the Covent Garden Soloists -Vasko Vassilev and Pamela Tan Nicholson (Singapore-born mother of Vanessa Mae) who are both back by popular demand for their 3rd Toyota Classics.
Vasko is the artistic director and violinist, while the music is arranged by pianist and composer Pamela.
The special features will include `Singphony' - with the orchestral members playing and singing opera masterpieces including Puccini's 'Madame Butterfly', `Turandot, Verdi's 'La Traviata' and Bizet's 'Carmen', all woven into delightful stories to thrill and delight audiences of all ages.
For the first time, a local Bruneichoir will perform a special Pamela composition - 'Mean Harmony'.
They have practised through video feeds over the Internet with Pamela and will be present at the official rehearsal before the concert night to harmonise their performance with the orchestra.
There will also be two popular traditional Brunei numbers - `Yak Hayu Ya Qay yum' and 'Jong Sarat' performed by the orchestra, in addition to the Brunei Darussalam national anthem.
All proceeds from the ticket sales wilt be donated to deserving local charities.
A very limited number of tickets are still available at all Toyota and Lexus showrooms.
