Members of the Brunei Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA Brunei) and officers of the Public Works Department (JKR), Ministry of Development attended a talk yesterday at the ministry's training centre.

The lecture, presented by Professor Sr Dr. Wan Maimun binti Wan Abdullah, primarily focused on the 'Overview of Contract Administration and Design and Build Contract' to an audience of about 140 people.

The detailed and informative event was organised by Nate Estrada, General Manager of PUJA (B) Academy Sendirian Berhad. Professor Sr Dr. Wan Maimun is a graduate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Aston University and Universiti Malaya.

At present, she is the Director of Khalid Ahmad Architects and sits in the Board of Directors of AZSB, Malaysia and has vast experience in the construction industry with 34 years in public and private sectors.

She is also the President of Association of Women in Construction Malaysia and also holds various posts in other organisations as well as sitting in national working committees.

In 2012, Professor Sr Dr. Wan Maimun was awarded the prestigious RISM 'Malaysian Surveyor of the Year Award' and in 2014 the inaugural CIDB 'Construction Leading Lady', an award that recognises women's role in the construction sector. She is also the first woman president of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia in 2009 / 2010.

To add to her honours, she was the first woman president of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) in 2009.
