Three local men were sentenced with imprisonment by the Bandar Magistrate Court yesterday after they pleaded guilty to a string of thefts, damage to property and trespassing at a government flat.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid handed down a one year and two months imprisonment to Ridhwan bin Buang, 19, who admitted to stealing, causing damage to a property and trespassing.

Budiman bin Nassar, 37, and Irwan bin Haji Bangok, 42, were each given 12-month prison sentences for theft.

Court documents stated that the defendants stole an air- conditioning unit from the Fire and Rescue Department flat in Kampong Terunjing between May and September this year.

In a separate incident between May and September this year, at the same location, Ridhwan also stole six car registration plates, two seat cushions, two dining table chairs and two stools and was also charged for causing damage to a door knob and trespassing with the intention of committing a crime.

Budiman also faced a charge of stealing a siding-door frame from the same flat within the same period and sold it for $3 for his own use. Police investigations• also revealed that Ridhwan and Budiman sold the air-conditioning unit for $10.
