BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

As part of Kampong Masin Mosque's annual activities, a blood donation drive was held at the mosque premises yesterday, with a total of 21 pints of blood collected by medical personnel of the Blood Donation Centre of the Laboratory Services Unit.

According to Imam Mohd Zahid Zakwan bin Mohd Said, yesterday's blood donation campaign marks the second of such activity conducted by the mosque committee, with the first being held in February. Response has been encouraging for both events.

The mosque also participated actively in other community activities, particularly related to Islam, including a Youth Forum for the youth of Kampong Masin, facilitated by one of the popular motivator Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor and a local religious speaker.

The imam further noted that although the blood drive is open particularly to the residents of Kampong Masin, the organiser also hoped for the presence of other members of the public.

The blood drive campaign displayed the true spirit of Bruneians in giving a helping hand by donating blood, he added.

One of the donor at the campaign expressed the needs of more blood donation drive to be conducted during Fridays and Sundays or even on public holidays because, for some government servants like himself, it is a bit inconvenient to donate during office hours despite their intention to donate to the good cause.

The mosque hopes to conduct more of such activities in the future with the attendance of not only residents of Kampong Masin but also those from the surrounding areas.
