Two companies were issued with compound fines by the Tutong District Office's Enforcement Unit after they were found to have violated the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021, which is dumping rubbish in public areas.

 

Syarikat Pengiran Sarbanun Sendirian Berhad in Kampung Tasek Meradun and Syarikat Osman bin Haji Momin Sendirian Berhad in Kampung Birau, were each issued a $500 compound fine, and were ordered to settle the fine within seven days.

 

If in default, the companies involved can be brought to court and if convicted, can be fined not less than $2,000, and not exceeding $10,000 and for the second or subsequent offences, can be imposed a fine of not less than $10,000 and not exceeding $30,000 and will be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months or both.
