Active Weather Condition Is Forecast Until 29 January 2023

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Brunei Darussalam is currently still in the first phase of the Northeast Monsoon, where generally unsettled weather conditions with showers or thunderstorms are expected to occur especially during the night until early morning. Brunei Darussalam is forecasted to be active starting yesterday until Sunday, 29th January 2023. The public are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.

Active weather conditions are due to the influence of Northeasterly wind surge and the formation of low pressure system over our region. Showers, heavy and thundery at times, are expected with wind gust that may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour over land areas and up to 50 kilometres per hour over sea areas during or near heavy showers. Meanwhile, over Brunei waters, sea condition is at moderate to rough state, with wave height of 1 to 3 metres. There are high risks of flooding and flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas.

Rough sea conditions are dangerous to all small crafts, sea recreational activities and sports. The Meteorological Department shall continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue weather advisories or warnings if necessary. Latest weather information, advisories and warnings can be accessed easily through our mobile app, Brunei WX. Latest weather information can also be obtained by contacting the Forecast Centre, through Weather Line 114, or by visiting the website or follow Facebook @bruneiweather and Instagram @brunei.weather.
