JPD Remind Motorists to Stick Their Road Taxes Accordingly

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Land Transport Department ( JPD) has reminded the public especially vehicle owners registered in Brunei Darussalam that it is an offence if they do not stick the road tax (or vehicle licence) in the right way.

The reminder was issued in the wake of poster board to store and display road tax that are sold freely to the public in this country.

The road tax must be affixed in accordance to the Act under Regulation 20 of the Road Traffic
Act Motor and Trailer Vehicle Licensing 2013.

"Any person who uses a motor vehicle or trailer on any road without a valid licence affixed in the prescribed manner, shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of $200, imprisonment for two months or both," the Act stated.

JPD also outlined the guide on how to properly attach the road tax: Features are set to affix the road tax sticker so that it cannot be transferred over from the original vehicle to another vehicle.

In this connection, JPD remind people not to take off the road tax that is still valid for the purpose of moving it to the other vehicle except when it has been expired and to be pasted to a new vehicle.

If the road tax is removed from the mirror surface, then it becomes invalid.

Road tax owners are advised to replace it with a new one at the JPD.
