 April 1st, 2023  |  08:08 AM  |   213 views

BANGKOK, THAILAND

ASEAN has an important role in the highest level discussions and opportunities to showcase achievements in the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 which complements the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG. ASEAN also has the opportunity to convey the desire for integrated action for the region.

The Permanent Secretary for Vision at the Prime Minister's Office as Chairman of the Special SDG National Coordination Committee for Brunei Darussalam stated the matter during the ASEAN Ministerial Dialogue on efforts to accelerate actions to achieve the 2nd SDG in Bangkok, Thailand. Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad who represented His Majesty's Government at the dialogue in her speech emphasised on actions that can be explored quickly and easily by ASEAN to further strengthen implementation towards achieving the 17 SDG goals.

In that matter, all SDG related actions under the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 need to be aligned to help in understanding the gaps that need to be overcome. With a more comprehensive understanding, ASEAN will be in a stronger position to mobilise resources more efficiently and effectively. Only seven years left to reach SDG. Heads of State will gather at the SDG Summit in September 2023 to review strategic steps towards accelerating the development of SDG agenda.
