The ceremony took place on 24th May afternoon, at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty received in audience and junjung ziarah from male and female intending haj pilgrims. Also in attendance was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.

This year, 1,035 Brunei Darussalam intending pilgrims, including officers from the Haj Pilgrims Management Office for Administration and Medical, will perform the fifth Pillar of Islam. Out of the total, 550 are male intending haj pilgrims and 485 are female. Five companies are operating the haj package service this year.

The intending haj pilgrims will leave for Madinah on four separate flights, which are on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of June.
