A local man was brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrates Court for an offence under Section 146(1)'D' of the Excise Order 2006.

Mohamad Rafiuddin Bin Haji Samri, aged 39, was arrested on 7th of July 2022 at a car workshop in Kampung Anggerek Desa. During the arrest, the authorities found 23 cartons, 11 packs and 7 sticks of cigarettes of various brands and cash amounting to $708. The defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a $43,880 fine or 16 months imprisonment in default. All contraband were seized to be destroyed and the cash from the sale of the cigarettes is seized to be handed over to the Government.
