His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then attended the Signing Ceremony of the Joint Declaration. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

His Majesty signed the Joint Declaration of a Strategic Partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, with His Excellency President Thongloun Sisoulith. The Joint Declaration marks a new chapter in relations between both countries in political and security cooperation, economic cooperation, socio-cultural, and regional and international issues.
