The Magistrate's Court yesterday ordered a 25-year-old local man to pay a $200 fine or serve a weeks' jail in default of payment for-possession of smuggled beer and liquor.

Adee Muhammad Safwan bin All Jaafar was driving his car and accompanied by a passenger when they arrived at the Kuala Lurah Control Post at 8.55pm on October 26.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid heard, from the customs prosecutor that an anti-narcotics officer on duty noticed the liquor and beer in the defendant's car.

Upon further inspection officials discovered four bottles of beer and one bottle of liquor.
