​His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office attended the Commissioning Ceremony of a Patrol Vessel, KDB AL-FARUQ. The commissioning ceremony took place at Jetty Bravo, Muara Naval Base, 13th December morning. The ceremony coincided with the 9th Young Leaders' Programme, YLP between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF.

Shortly after arriving, His Royal Highness received the Royal Salute and inspected the parade comprising 109 personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy. Also present, a delegation of the 9th YLP from the Republic of Singapore, led by His Excellency Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mujib bin Haji Japar, Acting Director of RBAF Religious Directorate, JAMA'AT. The meaning of AL-FARUQ was explained by Lieutenant Commander Pengiran Haji Khairul Anwar bin Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Royal Brunei Navy, Commanding Officer of KDB AL-FARUQ.

His Royal Highness delivered the Commissioning Sabda for KDB AL-FARUQ. His Royal Highness then proceeded to present the Commissioning Pennant to the Commanding Officer of KDB AL-FARUQ. This was followed by the hoisting of the Commissioning Pennant and the Royal Brunei Navy Ensign. Doa Selamat was read by the Acting Director of JAMA'AT.

His Royal Highness then toured the KDB AL-FARUQ. From Jetty Bravo, His Royal Highness proceeded to the Royal Brunei Navy Officer's Mess for a Luncheon.

The Commissioning Ceremony of KDB AL-FARUQ became a core part of the Royal Brunei Navy and RBAF's historic development.
