​The Royal Wedding Ceremony for the son of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, commenced with the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' or the Royal Bersuruh Ceremony. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the ceremony, which took place at the Balai Persantapan, Istana Nurul Iman, 7th January afternoon.

The ceremonial proceedings commenced with Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' was ready.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah then instructed Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan to seek an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to duly inform His Majesty.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan duly sought consent to appear before His Majesty.

This was followed by the arrival of His Majesty. His Majesty was greeted on arrival and accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin. Also present were His Majesty's sons and brothers:

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;

- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

His Majesty then proceeded to the designated seat, along with members of the Royal Family. After the Dian, Tikar and Bintang Petian were placed, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan sought consent to inform Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' was ready.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib in turn informed His Majesty that the ceremony was ready to proceed.

As soon as His Majesty made the titah for the ceremony to proceed, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib requested for Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim to seek audience with His Majesty.

His Majesty, in a titah, instructed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad to lead the Bersuruh Diraja delegation to the Residence of the Royal Bride to convey His Majesty's intention of proposing to Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam for His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

The Royal Bersuruh Delegation led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad proceeded to leave for Darussidiq, Jerudong. The delegation comprised Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, and Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang.

His Majesty then proceeded to a Special Chamber together with members of the Royal Family.

Jerudong

​The 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' for the Royal Bride took place at Dewan Cempaka, Darussidiq, Jerudong.

The ceremony began with Yang Mulia Awang Adam bin Abdullah, father of the Royal Bride, having an audience with Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Retired Major General Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit, to receive the wedding proposal delegation on his behalf. The Bersuruh Diraja delegation, led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad, was greeted on arrival by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmad.

Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Mohd. Jaafar sought consent and informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja that the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' was ready.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja then instructed for the ceremony to proceed. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad conveyed the titah of His Majesty to Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja, of His Majesty's intention.

After hearing the proposal and titah of His Majesty that was conveyed by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad to convey the outcome to His Majesty. Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustapa.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja then instructed for the ceremony to be brought to a close.

Istana Nurul Iman

​After the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' at Darussidiq, Jerudong, the Bersuruh Diraja delegation returned to Istana Nurul Iman to announce the outcome of the proposal.

The delegation was led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah that the Bersuruh Diraja delegation had returned. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah then instructed Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan to seek an audience with His Majesty and inform His Majesty of the same.

His Majesty then proceeded to the Balai Persantapan. Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brothers:

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;

- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

His Majesty acknowledged the response from Yang Mulia Awang Adam bin Abdullah.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib that the Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja had been duly carried out. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib in turn informed His Majesty that the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' had been duly carried out.

His Majesty made the titah for the Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja be brought to a close. His Majesty and other members of the Royal Family then departed the ceremony. The completion of the 'Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja' marks the start of a series of ceremonies held as part of the Royal Wedding Ceremony of His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.
