​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah stresses that the blessing of 40 years of independence, requires solidarity and patriotism among the people as the backbone of the country's resilience and integrity. Thus, His Majesty emphasises independence must be protected, cultivated and defended for the purity of the religion and sovereignty of the nation, country and monarch. In the Titah in conjunction with the 40th Brunei Darussalam National Day Celebration broadcast nationwide via radio and television, His Majesty among other matters stresses on the result of the country's efforts in enhancing the people's life expectancy, skills and education as well as quality of life, the efficacy of initiatives under the National Development Plan, NDP and emphasis to increase employment opportunities for locals. His Majesty began the titah by expressing gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala as by His blessings, the country can celebrate the 40th National Day Celebration Anniversary this year with the theme, 'Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara' or United to Achieve the Country's Aspirations.
