​His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman had an Audience and Luncheon with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Emperor of Japan and Her Majesty Empress Masako, Empress of Japan. The events were held at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were welcomed by Mr. Nishimura Yasuhiko, Grand Steward of the Imperial House Agency. During the Audience, His Royal Highness and His Majesty discussed on bilateral issues of mutual importance to Brunei Darussalam and Japan, including cooperation in the areas of energy, trade, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the Audience, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness attended a Luncheon hosted by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito and Her Majesty Empress Masako held at Rensui-kita, Imperial Palace. Also attending the luncheon were His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Akishino and Her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Akishino. Prior to departure, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were bade farewell by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and Her Majesty the Empress of Japan.
