His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, on 9th March night, attended a Dinner jointly hosted by Matsui Koji, Mayor of Kyoto City; Furukawa Hironori, Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture; and Iwai Kazumichi, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and Industry of Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the dinner, His Royal Highness in a sabda believed that there are many opportunities for Brunei Darussalam and Japan to work together, especially in trade and investment. In the sabda, His Royal Highness said both countries look forward to further deepening the people-to-people exchanges, particularly in celebrating the 2024 Brunei-Japan Friendship Year.
Upon arrival at Kyoto State Guest House, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were greeted by Mikami Akiteru, Director General of Guest State House, and subsequently introduced to joint hosts for the Dinner and their respective spouses. The Mayor of Kyoto in his welcoming remarks hoped that Kyoto can contribute towards increasing cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
In the sabda, His Royal Highness expressed pleasure in visiting Kyoto for the first time.
The Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture and Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and Industry of Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry also delivered speeches. The function was also enlivened by performances of traditional songs known as “so-Kyoku", played by a Japanese instrument called “Koto".
