The roles and responsibilities underlined by the World Anti-Doping Code, and challenges in implementing it were among the matters discussed at the 19th Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan. Representing Brunei Darussalam to the meeting was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
At the meeting, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad shared Brunei Darussalam's stance and challenges faced by the country in adhering to the anti-doping regulations and programmes by the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA and other related agencies. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Sports, Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Anti-Doping Agency of Uzbekistan with the cooperation of WADA. Yang Berhormat also held a separate meeting with His Excellency Adikham Ikramov, Minister of Sports, Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Witold Banka, President of WADA. During the meetings, both parties exchanged information related to sports, anti-doping stance and cooperation opportunities in said fields.
