​Brunei Darussalam was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee on Prevention, Preparedness and Health Emergency Response to represent the Western Pacific Region, for a two-year term. It was announced during the 155th Session of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization Meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland on the 3rd to 4th of June.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Health and representatives from several member countries of the Executive Board of WHO. The Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. Also joining the meeting was Her Excellency Dayangku Mazlizah binti Pengiran Haji Mahalee, Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. The Minister of Health also held a goodwill visit to His Excellency Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization Worldwide to discuss health issues and express the country's commitment to contribute to global health.
