​His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri, proceeded together with His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and spouse, as well as members of the Royal Family and the official delegation of the Republic of Singapore for the Official Luncheon, which took place at Baiturrahmah.

At the Official Luncheon, His Majesty in a titah congratulates His Excellency Lawrence Wong on his recent appointment as the 4th Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and further expresses confidence that His Excellency will continue to lead the 4G Leaders under 'Forward Singapore' in ensuring the nation's continued development and prosperity.

For many decades, His Majesty states, Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore have enjoyed strong ties across many sectors, building trust and confidence as a solid foundation for the future.

As two small, sovereign states surrounded by larger neighbours, both countries share a common desire that stems from the close friendship between Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien and the late Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister.

The Official Luncheon began with the recitation of a Doa Selamat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

His Majesty in the titah says the unique and special ties between the two countries is vital in ensuring the stability of the economies during regional financial crises and economic downturns.

In the titah, His Majesty expresses confidence that the bonds of friendship between the two countries will continue to strengthen in the years to come.

In his speech, His Excellency said both countries are committed to expand bilateral cooperation in new areas, which will ensure the two countries are well positioned for the future.

His Excellency is also glad to know that the relationship between the two countries continues to be strengthened, including through the Young Leaders Exchange Programme, as well as the Brunei Darussalam-Republic of Singapore Youth Education Scholarship.

This marks His Excellency's first overseas Official Visit as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore since his appointment on 15th May 2024 which, among other things, reflects the warm, close and long-standing relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.
