The export volume index in the first quarter of 2024 rose by 27.8 per cent, raising exports values from the previous year. The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy in its media release on the International Merchandise Trade Index, IMTI, shared that the increase was primarily contributed by a rise in indexes of Mineral Fuels, Beverages, and Machinery and Transport Equipment.
However, the export unit value index recorded a decrease of 0.3 per cent, mainly due to Crude Materials Inedible, Beverages, and Food.
Meanwhile, the import unit value index increased by 4.9 per cent compared to the previous year, raising imports value. This was contributed by Manufactured Goods, Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles, and Mineral Fuels.
