Cawangan 'B' emerged champions of the Inter PEKERTI (Welfare Body of Police's Wives and Families) Branch Netball Championship 2016 after defeating AJKT 20-13 in the final at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium of the Police HQ in Gadong yesterday.

Cawangan 'B' won the PEKERTI President Datin Hajah Kamariah Haji Abdul Hamid Trophy for their efforts.

Both finalists shared 12 points in the group stage of the tournament but the winners got the slight edge after accumulating a superior goal difference of just one.

However, it were Cawangan `B' who opened the floodgates in the first period and despite a brief recovery from AJKT accompanied by unforced errors from the former, the winners inspired by their captain
were in sublime form.

AJKT succeeded in converting baskets but Cawangan 'B' were already primed to clinch the championship minutes before the official confirmation of the final whistle.

Cawangan 'S and Cawangan 'C' tied on 9 points but the former took third place due to superior goal difference of just two.

Cawangan `E' finished fifth with 3 points while Cawangan 'D' took sixth place with no points.

The winners were not presented with the trophy immediately but will be able to get their hands on the prize during a prize presentation ceremony on Tuesday November 29 which will coincide with the PEKERTI badminton final.

The guest of honour at the championship was the President of PEKERTI, Datin Hajah Kamariah binti Haji Abd Hamid.
