SENGKURONG

To raise public awareness on the negative aspects of the usage of technologies and social media, the Syababul Iman youth group of the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong hosted the `Youth Protection Series - Second Edition: Digital Addict' forum yesterday.

Among those who attended the forum was the Director of Mosque Administration, Ustaz Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh.

The forum was divided into two sessions where a series of presentations were presented by guest speakers including Clinical Psychological Officer of the Ministry of Health, Pengiran Hartini binti Pengiran Tahir on the topic titled `Electrical Screen Syndrome' and officers from the Crime Investigation Department, who touched on several topics including cyber crime and online sexual grooming.

The second session of the forum was presented by panellists comprising UNISSA Lecturer Ustaz Dr Kamaru Salam bln Yusof and Ministry of Religious Affairs Officer Ustaz Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid, and moderated by Dr Ustazah Hajah Ummi Faezah bind Haji Abdul Rahman.

The forum focussed on the ongoing issues of youth addiction to modern technologies and social media as well as the negative impacts of exposing children to technologies as a replacement for care at a young age. The forum also aimed on creating guidance for the youth to use technology moderately and in line with Islamic teachings.
